What is it with religion that, on one hand inflames passions, breeds credulity and accepts contradictions but, on the other hand, teaches one to turn the other cheek, makes people walk bare feet to avoid trampling over insects and gives us eternal hope despite the myriad natural disasters we face every year? Where did our religion come from? How did it spread around? Is every tenet, precept and idea associated with religion absolutely true? Why do we follow it? What does it actually do for us?
